How I work

A step-by-step explanation of the process

I believe meaningful therapeutic work always begins with the individual, rather than slotting a client into a one-size-fits all template. Every person arrives with a different history, nervous system and set of patterns, and the work needs to be shaped around these.

My role is to offer a calm, structured space in which we can understand what’s been happening for you, clarify what you’d like to feel different, and consider what kind of support would be most helpful.

The process usually begins like this:

1) An introductory call

We begin with a brief, complimentary call where you can share what’s been going on and what you’d like to feel different.

During this confidential conversation, I’ll listen carefully, ask questions, and help you begin to clarify what may be sitting beneath the surface of the difficulty. We’ll also explore whether the way I work feels like a good fit for you.

Many people find that even this initial conversation brings a sense of clarity and direction.

2) A deeper consultation

If it feels appropriate to proceed, the next step is a one-hour consultation. This allows me to understand your patterns, history and previous experiences of therapy in more depth, so that the work is genuinely tailored to you rather than applied generically.

This is where we begin to form a clearer picture of what will support meaningful change.

3) Hypnotherapy work

This takes the form of focused RTT hypnotherapy sessions. These are structured but collaborative: you remain fully aware and in control throughout, and the work unfolds in dialogue with you (rather than being done to you).

The aim is to identify the beliefs and emotional patterns beneath the difficulty and work directly with them, so they can be updated and reframed at a deeper level — not simply understood intellectually.

The pace, structure and number of sessions vary depending on the person and the goals we are working towards.

4) Personalised integration work

A key part of the hypnotherapy process is the personalised recording I create for you to listen to between sessions. Repetition supports the brain’s natural capacity for change — often referred to as neuroplasticity — helping new patterns of thought and emotional response become more established over time.

This supports the shifts we’ve begun to stabilise and become more embodied.

5) Ongoing reflection and next steps

Throughout the work, we pause regularly to reflect on what’s shifting and what feels most useful going forward. For some people, the work is brief and focused; for others, it unfolds over a longer period. It’s entirely up to you.

The work is guided by a clear therapeutic structure, whilst remaining responsive to your individual needs.

Practical note

All sessions currently take place online. Many clients find working from their own space allows them to feel more settled and focused.
